Mākaha, Honolulu, Hawai'i (March 30, 2012) - Pacific Links Hawai'i has acquired the Mākaha Valley Country Club golf course from Ko Olina Mākaha East LLC, a local investment group headed by developer Jeffrey Stone.

Purchase of the 18-hole Mākaha Valley East course complements the current Pacific Links Hawai'i portfolio, and merges the ownership of both the Mākaha Valley West and East courses for the first time since legendary developer Chinn Ho owned and operated Mākaha Resort. The East and West courses will maintain distinct identities, but collectively serve to enhance the quality of golf in Hawai'i for both kama'āina and visitors from across the globe, while providing a higher degree of economic stability to O'ahu's Leeward Coast.

"We look forward to working closely with the Mākaha community on a collective vision for the area that helps enhance and strengthen this beautiful, culturally- and historically-rich valley that can, and should, play an important role for our entire island," said Micah Kāne, Pacific Links Hawai'i chief operating officer.

It is anticipated that all 40 current employees will all be retained during the ownership transition. "Our sincere hope is that all of these employees decide to stay with us, as we will need their expertise along with their commitment to, and aloha for, the Mākaha Valley Country Club courses," Kāne said.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for a community I care deeply about," said Stone. "We are excited about Pacific Links Hawai'i's commitment to the rejuvenation of the Mākaha Valley ahupua'a that we worked so hard to achieve over the past several years. I am confident this repositioning will be executed with great sensitivity to the powerful history of the area and its residents and result in a great amenity for our island and the State of Hawai'i."

Enhancements to the Mākaha Valley East course are anticipated to begin as early as fall 2012. Pacific Links Hawai'i purchased the Mākaha Valley West course in 2011 and immediately began an extensive renovation effort, including a major course re-design by world-acclaimed golf course designers The Greg Norman Group. Renovations at Makaha Valley West are expected to be completed by late 2014 when the course will be reopened for play.
